The Victoria Town Council voted to offer the position of town manager to its top candidate following a closed session earlier this month.

But Acting Town Manager J.A. Dayton recently noted, “At this point, they haven’t hired anybody.”

At its Nov. 9th meeting, the board charged member Greg Elam to negotiate the contract.

At the same meeting, the board recognized former town manager Ken Patterson with a resolution and a plaque for “15 years of dedicated service.”

Patterson served as a police officer for the town before becoming town manager. He left his position as town manager in August.

“The words on this resolution and this plaque in no way say what we think about you,” mayor Carol Watson told him. “A job well done. We love you to death.”
