Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative (MEC) Director Fletcher B. Jones, of Boydton, right, receives his Director Gold Certificate from MEC President and CEO John C. Lee Jr. Director Gold is a new NRECA certificate program geared toward directors who are committed to continuing their education and receiving a tangible credential that reinforces their stature as part of a group of experienced and educated directors. To earn Director Gold, electric cooperative directors must first earn NRECA’s Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate (CCD) and the Board Leadership Certificate (BLC). The Director Gold status demonstrates, to cooperative members and other stakeholders, the director’s ongoing commitment to enhance industry knowledge and to perform fiduciary duty proficiently. “Bob is the first member of our board to receive this distinction, and we commend him. MEC’s board members work diligently on behalf of MEC members, and they are dedicated to being the best they can be and willingly dedicate their time to achieve that goal,” said Lee.
