Chargers golf prepares for conference play

The planned regular season ending golf match between the Central Chargers and Goochland Bulldogs ran into trouble last week with inclement weather forcing that match to be canceled. Head coach Thomas Hoefer said that there is no plan for a make-up.

With the final match not being played, the Chargers finished the season with a 5-10 record and will host Prince Edward and Buckingham in a seeded match as postseason play begins.

Hoefer said that the date of that match is still to be determined.

However, the team already knows where it will be for conference play as the Chargers will be traveling to Saluda to participate in the Conference 42 Tournament on Sept. 29.

He stated, “We hope to qualify some golfers for the Region 1A East tournament.”

After several years of veteran golf teams, this group has just one senior (Tyler Hawks) along with three underclassmen.

Despite that, the Chargers have been competitive this year and look to make some noise in conference play.
