New Grove Baptist Church will observe its 150th church anniversary, 28th anniversary of Rev. Curtis W. Bagley Jr. and its 40th year of ministry of Rev. Patricia Barnette on Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Irene B. Allen, of Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church in Blackstone, will be the guest preacher. Pre-anniversary worship service will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. Guest preachers and churches on those days are: (Wednesday) Rev. Lawrence Wilkerson Sr. and Bluestone Baptist Church; (Thursday) Rev. Haney Thomas Jr. and New Bethel Baptist Church. New Grove will also present The Victorians Gospel Singers, of Baltimore, Md., in concert along with the Blackstone Community Chorus on Saturday at 5 p.m. at New Grove (32 New Grove Road in Kenbridge). At 3 p.m. on Sunday the anniversary closing service will be held. Rev. Raleigh Bagley, III and Concord Baptist Church, of Chase City, will conduct the service. Dinner will be served following the morning service.
