Central High fully accredited

Central High is the only school in Lunenburg County that achieved full state accreditation based on the 2014-2015 Standard of Learning (SOL) tests.

Lunenburg Middle, Victoria Elementary and Kenbridge Elementary were all termed as partially accredited and warned for the school’s pass rate by the state’s Department of Education on Tuesday.

All three schools fell short in math scores, while the two elementary schools fell short in English as well. The division’s four schools met the state’s science and history standards.

The division failed to meet federal Annual Measurable Objectives, according to the department’s website due not meeting certain gap group standards for the federal graduation indicators.

For elementary and middle schools to be fully accredited by the state, students must achieve at least a 75 percent English pass rate, a 70 percent math pass rate, a 70 percent science pass rate and a 70 percent history pass rate. High schools must achieve a pass rate of 75 percent English and 70 percent in mathematics, science and history and attain a point value of 85 or greater based on the Graduation and Completion Index (GCI).
