Rallying with New Grove Baptist

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending New Grove Baptist in Kenbridge.

After being invited by a friend of the family, Gwen Cabiness, I was eager to meet more Lunenburg County folks and view the church on its 150th anniverary.

My experience at the morning service was unlike any other I had ever experienced at a church.

This was no regular service with just scripted singing and speaking. It was more like a rally for God and everything He had done for New Grove churchgoers.

People spoke their minds out loud and told everyone how they felt God was helping their lives.

People shouting out songs they wanted to sing at random and they were played.

New Grove wasn’t afraid to shout their praises and that was refreshing.

They were warm and welcoming while making you feel as though you were family. They showed Southern charm with their politeness and willingness to show you around. They showed thoughtfulness to those celebrating anniversaries by showering them with gifts.

They were great.

I thank New Grove for inviting me to its service and I appreciate the experience they provided me with. That church is full of great people and everyone should consider visiting.
