The Central Chargers (8-3) will travel to Franklin (7-2) on Friday for a 7 p.m. playoff matchup.

The Broncos are led by senior running back Quayshawn Jefferson.

Jefferson is currently in the running for the Western Tidewater Player of Year. The 5-foot-10 player has rushed (unofficially) for 902 yards on the season, scoring 11 touchdowns.

Last season the Broncos went 3-8 overall and made it to the first round of the VHSL 1A East Region playoffs, where they were defeated 16-12 by Surry County.

Eleven-year Broncos coach Darren Parker, who has a career record of 111-34, hopes to pick off Lunenburg and advance further this season in the playoffs.

Parker also led the Broncos to two state championship titles, in 2004 and 2008.

Parker had not had a losing season at Franklin until last year.
