American Education Week presents all Americans with an opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education.

This year’s theme is, “Great Public Schools:  A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.”

Recognition of this week affords all citizens of the opportunity to honor the people who make a difference in the lives of children and educators.

The week celebrates the public education system, especially teachers, for making every effort to ensure children receive the best education possible.

This year marks the 90th year that American Education Week has been observed.

Lunenburg County Public Schools Superintendent Charles M. Berkley Jr. extended his thanks to faculty and staff, “The Lunenburg County School Board, the Central Office Administrative Staff, and I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our teachers, support staff, and administrators throughout the Lunenburg County Public School Division. Your continued hard work, perseverance, and commitment to the education of our students is beyond outstanding, and you are greatly appreciated for all that you do.”
