Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation (WWIA) is providing an event on Dec. 10-13 for Purple Heart recipients. This event is hosted by Andy Wilson and includes an action-packed weekend of hunting whitetail deer using shotguns at Great Creek Hunt Club.

The event is designed to say “thank you” in a way only sportsman can do. Heroes will be provided with a comfortable place to call home at the Great Creek Hunt Club along with all meals during the event. Also included is game processing and shipping.

Support from the community tends to grow and the hosts can adapt the event to allow for a more enriching experience for the Warriors. Third-time host Wilson says, “Great Creek Hunt Club has been privileged to host this event for the past three years. Through this event, we have forged lifelong friendships with heroes who have sacrificed so much for this great nation. The fact that we can give back in just a small way to these individuals is an honor that we cherish.”

Spending time experiencing the soothing qualities of nature, hanging out with other veterans and sharing similar experiences can really help calm the spirit. Additionally, when the excitement and challenge of hunting deer is included, Heroes tend to achieve a level of satisfaction and accomplishment that has been missing from their lives. WWIA also works to connect these Heroes with each other by always hosting small groups; giving them the opportunity to recreate that camaraderie they previously shared with others in deployed situations.

Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation (WWIA) is a national non-profit dedicated to serving our nation’s combat wounded Purple Heart recipients. For more information, please go to the website at www.wwiaf.org.
