CCB Bankshares Inc., announced recently the addition of E. Eugene “Gene” Coleman Jr. to its Board of Directors. Named director in March, he will stand for election at the annual shareholder meeting in May.

Coleman recently retired from a long-spanning public service career, having served over 40 years in Mecklenburg County. In 1983, he was elected as clerk of the circuit court and served in that capacity for 32 years. Prior to that, he served as a probation officer in Mecklenburg’s then newly-created juvenile and domestic relations court.

“Gene has a proven track record of sound judgment and decision making. He possesses solid management skills, and his knowledge and passion for the community are exceptional,” said James R. Black, president and CEO of Citizens Community Bank. “Gene is first-class, his moral character and skill sets are a natural fit for our culture and future.”

“I am excited and honored at the opportunity to join the board of directors and continue to serve the community,” said Coleman.

Coleman lives in Boydton, with Sylvia, his wife of 41 years. Together, they have three adult children, two granddaughters and their first grandson arriving soon. He is active in community affairs, including serving as president of the Boydton Volunteer Fire Department. In his newly discovered time away from the office, he enjoys farming, mission work and volunteering with his church and the Concord Baptist Association.

CCB Bankshares Inc. is a Virginia state chartered bank holding company headquartered in South Hill, and parent company to Citizens Community Bank.

It operates six branches, three in south central Virginia and three in northern North Carolina, as well as a loan production office in North Raleigh, North Carolina.
