Seven more JROTC cadets from Central High School have recently joined an elite group by completing the JCLC Eagle Camp held at Fort Pickett.

Pictured students are, from left, front row, John McGraf, Ericka Whisonant, Destinee Barrett, Kiara King; second row, James Haley, Zachary Phillips and Ja’Kwon Randolph.
The six-day camp challenges the cadets mentally and physically. Their day began at 5 a.m. and usually ended at 11 p.m., which left little personal time. The students were challenged to use time management to complete all of their assigned daily tasks and complete all training that is scheduled for the day. Each day, cadets were chosen to perform in different leadership positions to test their skills and mental toughness.
Some of the training highlights were: maneuvering a 70-foot rappel tower, orienteering, completing a Leadership Reaction Course, learning survival skills and operations. By completing this camp, cadets demonstrated their dedication and desire to be successful.
