The Lunenburg Girls Softball (LGS) Angels All-Star team lost 10-2 to the Dinwiddie County All-Stars in the championship game of the Dixie Youth District 1 Angels All-Star Tournament on June 28 in Crewe.

The girls went 3-2 in the tourney, finishing second.

Of his team’s overall play, LGS Angels Manager Jamie Buchanan said he was “very pleased. They were a strong team, showed a lot of heart. A couple of those games they had to fight from behind (and) just showed a lot of resiliency and fight. Never gave up, even in the championship.”

Dinwiddie got some timely hits, though Kennedy Moody, Tristan Buchanan and Cayley Stokes pitched well.

Lunenburg’s Taniyah Foster got some big hits on offense, Manager Buchanan said.
