The Kenston Forest varsity football team traveled to Powhatan on Friday and was unable to spoil the homecoming game of the Blessed Sacrament Huguenot (BSH) Catholic School Knights.
The Kavaliers could not get on the scoreboard, ultimately falling 44-0.
It was the third consecutive loss for injury-ravaged Kenston Forest after it went 2-0 to start the season.
The Knights took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter on Friday, stopped the Kavs from scoring and then built up a 28-0 lead by halftime.
After the first score by the Knights, Kenston had opportunities and even produced a couple big plays, but it could not capitalize on them. The first big play was a nice pass completion from senior Tyler Daniel to senior Jackson Taylor for a 48-yard gain. The second big play was an excellent tackle-breaking run by senior J.E.B. Buchanan for 63 yards.
For the game, Buchanan led the Kavaliers on offense with 97 yards rushing, 50 yards in returns and 12 yards receiving. He was also a leader on defense, recording a team-high 13 tackles.
Kenston Forest (2-3) plays its annual homecoming game Friday at 7 p.m. against the Hampton Roads Generals. The Kavaliers hope to have back a number of injured players, including five starters who were out against the Knights.
