The William Taylor Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Meherrin Chapter of the Colonial Dames XVII Century met in their annual joint meeting at Kenmore in Fredericksburg. George Washington’s sister, Betty Washington Lewis, and her husband, Fielding Lewis, built historic Kenmore. The Georgian-style brick mansion reflects the pre-Revolutionary War wealth and status of Lewis, a successful Fredericksburg merchant whose support of the Colonial cause cost him a fortune.
