Do you know what the Honeycomb, the Mariner’s Compass and the Double Wedding Ring have in common? They are all popular quilting patterns that have been used for centuries.

This month, the Victoria branch of the Lunenburg County Public Library System (LCPLS) celebrates the 19th year of displaying handmade quilts by the Monday Night Quilters. Stop by the community room to view more than 50 quilts featuring intricate patterns and beautiful colors. Victoria Elementary School kindergarteners, first- and second- graders will be invited to view the quilts and learn about how they were made. “We enjoy hearing suggestions and ideas from our patrons so feel free to let us know about books and/or materials you would like to see,” LCPLS officials said in a press release.

The Victoria and Kenbridge branches have many quilting and sewing books available for checkout, as well as the bi-monthly periodical, Quiltmaker.

LCPLS also has books for sale to its patrons. It has a variety of genres: fiction, non-fiction, crafts and cooking for both adults and children. Hardbacks are 25 cents and paperbacks are 10 cents. All book sale proceeds support library services. Sale books are available in the lobby of the Victoria branch and across from the checkout desk in Kenbridge.

LCPLS will be closed Friday, Nov. 11th in observance of Veterans Day and Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 24-26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
