NOVEMBER 12

AUCTION SALE, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the covered Brush Arbor Pavilion at Lake Gaston Christian Life Centre, 1411 Robinson Ferry Road, Ebony. Items up for auction include furniture, household articles, Christmas decorations and more. Food and beverages will be available for sale. HARDING FAMILY TURKEY SHOOT, 12 p.m., 1074 Burkeville Road, Victoria. Come and enjoy hot chili and beans.

HONORING VETERANS, 2:30 p.m. at High Bridge. Volunteers will provide a warming fire to tame the chill, and have homemade cookies, coffee and other refreshments. Your guide will detail the battles for High Bridge and the strategic role it fulfilled in the security of our area throughout its history. Visitors should use the Camp Paradise Road access.

RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE – 8 a.m.-until at Victoria United Methodist Church, 1906 Lee Ave., Victoria.

NOVEMBER 13

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 11 a.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 1784 Springfield Road, Meherrin. The Rev. Terrence Redd of Concord Fellowship Baptist Church of Richmond will deliver the sermon for the occasion. The Rev. Dr. Theodore Brown is pastor.

MOVIE NIGHT AND BAKE SALE AT VICTORIA NAZARENE, 5 p.m. The film “October Baby” will be shown in the church fellowship. Bring a snack to share. There will also be a bake sale held to help the youth of the church raise money to go to their District Winter Retreat in Harrisonburg. Come out and enjoy the movie and buy something sweet from the sale to take home. Everyone is welcome.

MEN AND WOMEN PARADE OF HATS, 3 p.m. at the Starlight Baptist Church, sponsored by the Pastor Aide Ministry. Groups appearing consist of Friendship Senior Choir, Fourth Mt. Zion Praise Dancers, Voices of Christ, Mr. Connell Lewis, The Over 60 Parise Ministry and more. Come wearing the hat of your choice.

ANNUAL MISSIONARY DAY, 11 a.m., at New Grove Baptist Church, 32 New Grove Road, Kenbridge. The guest preacher will be The Rev. Freddie O. Crowder, pastor of Second Chance Church of Stafford. Rev. Crowder is the son of Deacon Roosevelt Crowder and Deaconess Easter Crowder of Kenbridge.

112TH CHURCH ANNIVERSARY/FALL RALLY, 3 p.m., at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. Guest preacher the Rev. Dr. Joseph Fields, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, of Ford, along with his entire church family, will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be served between services beginning at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

SERVICES AT CEDAR CREEK BAPTIST, 11 a.m.  Speaker will be The Rev. Dr. Raymond Dowdy of Springfield Baptist Church, Meherrin. The church can be found at 2104 Jonesboro Road, Kenbridge. Deacon James Jones is the chair of deacons.

NOVEMBER 15

SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS MEETING, 6:30 p.m. at Sheldon’s Restaurant in Keysville. The meeting will begin with a “Dutch Treat” meal, followed by a short business meeting and program. Compatriot Gary Hall, from North Carolina, will provide the program. Hall will speak on the Irish in the Confederate Army. Anyone who has an interest in the history of the South and The War Between the States is welcome. Any potential new members who are male descendants of Confederate Veterans and are also interested in studying and preserving the history and heritage of the South are also always welcome.
