The town of Victoria is getting ready for its fifth annual Small Town Christmas Celebration on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

A lot of activities are slated for the day, starting with Breakfast with Santa.

“That will be at the Uptown Café,” Victoria Town Manager Randy Newton said.

According to information from the Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce, breakfast with $5 for adults and children. An additional $5 is the cost of a picture with Santa, which will be taken at the Victoria Town Library, Newston said.

He said a special guest will also be showing up at Marino’s Italian restaurant: the Grinch, with whom children can also get a picture taken.

The list of events also includes a Christmas Shoppe Craft House, edible tree craft, ornament decorating, marshmallow roasting (with fire safety tips), face painting, child ID fingerprinting, music and caroling, an art display by Dennis Stultz and blood pressure readings.

There will also be barrel train rides.

“Those will be held in the park,” Newton said, referring to the Tobacco Heritage Trail-Victoria Railroad Park.

“Special appearances in town of other holiday characters,” the bottom of a flyer about Small Town Christmas declared.

“If they decide to show up, we’ll have Rudolph, Frosty and maybe even some Christmas trees,” Newton said.

He said businesses and organizations are sponsoring the celebration. Most of it will take place in front of shops and at the Community Center.

The flyer notes that STEPS will be using part of the celebration to hold a special election of its board from 10 a.m.-noon at Bliss.

“STEPS will be requesting residents of Lunenburg County to sign a petition to seat Lena Hipps-Clarke on the STEPS Board of Directors,” the flyer read.

Newton said STEPS is helping to sponsor the celebration.
