DECEMBER 21
CLASSIC CHRISTMAS CAROLS AND NARRATION, 7 p.m., Clarksville Baptist Church in the dynamic cantata presentation “A Celebration of Carols” by Joseph Martin. The cantata will be a collaborative venture between the chancel choirs of both South Hill United Methodist Church and Clarksville Baptist Church. The choir will be under the direction of Dr. Brian Siegle and accompanied by Jimmie K. Crowder Jr., organist and Sidney Long, pianist. The Reverend Sandy Libhart will be the narrator for this poignant celebration of the Advent season.
DECEMBER 24
CHRISTMAS EVE BY CANDLELIGHT, 5 p.m. at Victoria Christian Church. You will enjoy carols and scriptures, as well as special vocal music by Liz Hamlett, Cynthia Dean, Alissa Baldwin, and Pastor Earl P. Pinchbeck. Piano will be played by Jean Gay; organ by Anne Hamlett. The public is cordially invited to pause in the midst of Christmas preparations and reflect on the true meaning of the season at this sacred service. “O Come, All Ye Faithful!”
DECEMBER 25
CHRISTMAS SERVICE, 10 a.m., at Jericho Baptist Church (formerly Race Street Baptist). All are welcome to join us. Rev. Dr. James H. Taylor, III, pastor.
JANUARY 1
FIRST DAY HIKES AT HIGH BRIDGE, 2 p.m. A Ranger will guide a short easy hike across High Bridge and back. Total length of the hike is approximately 1 mile. At 3 p.m. a more strenuous hike will begin that guides participants to a rarely visited part of the park along an abandoned rail line constructed to divert traffic when High Bridge was out of service for maintenance in 1870. Total distance is almost 2 miles and varies from easy to strenuous in places. The Friends Group for the Park will be present with refreshments and a warm campfire.
