Victoria Elementary School was evacuated after volunteers from Victoria Fire and Rescue were summoned to a report of a fire in a stairwell Monday. According to Victoria Fire and Rescue Chief Rodney Newton, the incident, which turned out to be a malfunctioning heater, was reported at about 2 p.m. Fans were used to ventilate the building and stairwell, according to Newton.
