KFS holds National Honor Society induction

The National Honor Society (NHS) Induction Ceremony was held at Kenston Forest School on Wednesday, Feb. 22 in the school’s gymnasium.

According to a school press release, the following juniors were inducted: Cassie Gray Ingram Beane, daughter of David Beane and Darlene Beane, both of South Hill; Taylor Katherine Berkley, daughter of Charles and Paige Berkley, of Kenbridge, Remy Whitfield Butts, son of Charles and Ann Butts, of South Hill; Peyton Cierra Clary, daughter of Chris and Tia Clary, of Bracey; Indigo Belle Dougherty, daughter of Bill and DeVonne Dougherty, of LaCrosse; Kristin Elaine Duty, daughter of John and Teri Duty, of Keysville; Kara Ashlynn Edmonds, daughter of James and Kim Edmonds, of Blackstone; Cierra Marie Fuller, daughter of Chad and Diane Fuller, of Blackridge; Allyson Blair McComas, daughter of Rodney and Amanda McComas, of Crewe; Zachary Quinlan Wells, son of Noel Wells and Libby Wells, both of Blackstone; William Chance Whitehead, son of Kenny and Lisa Whitehead, of Crewe; Qinghan Zhang, daughter of host parents Randy and Sallie Manson Glenn, of Kenbridge; and Emily Anne Zincone, daughter of Scott and Ashleigh Zincone, of South Hill.

“Students were selected based on their academic achievements and demonstration of strong character, service and leadership within their school and community,” school officials said. “The ceremony was led by the current NHS officers Paden Lawson, president; Anna Clemens, vice president; and Savannah Gunn, treasurer. Mary Lizzie Hodges, secretary, was unable to participate due to illness. Other NHS members included in the ceremony were Delaney Basso, J.E.B. Buchanan, Sallie Chappell and Mary Katherine Coleburn.”

Each new inductee was pinned by the teacher whom they felt had made the most significant impact on their academic careers. Teachers identified as having made a significant impact included Dr. John Allen, Helene Houts, Susan Lenhart, Noel Stallard and Cam Williams.

A reception for new inductees and their families and friends was held in the Kenston Forest School library immediately following the ceremony.
