Kavs baseball wins at both levels

The Kenston Forest School varsity baseball team took its overall record to 3-0 this season after recording back-to-back home wins Saturday, and the school’s junior varsity (JV) team opened its season well March 8 with a 6-4 win against visiting Lunenburg Middle School.

In the varsity team’s first game Saturday, it defeated Central Virginia Disciples Homeschool 8-7.

Tyler White pitched a complete game, throwing five strikeouts. He also went 2-for-2 at the plate with one walk.

Chance Whitehead went 2-for-4, with two singles and two RBIs.

In the second game Saturday, Kenston Forest orchestrated a 10-0 win over Halifax Academy.

Owen Marshall pitched a complete game shutout, giving up only one hit while throwing eight strikeouts.

At the plate, he was 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Senior J.E.B. Buchanan went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Kavs host Southampton Academy on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Kenston Forest’s JV team achieved its March 8 victory with leadership from Ryan Whitehead, who provided great pitching. In two innings pitched and eight batters faced, he threw four strikeouts and allowed no earned runs and only one walk.

Whitehead was 3-for-3 during his turns at the plate.

The Kavs were also fueled by great pitching from Noah Phillips. He also threw for two innings, facing nine batters, and he recorded six strikeouts, allowing only one earned run and one walk.

On offense, Phillips went 1-for-2 with a walk.

Elijah Scorzelli helped power Kenston Forest offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

The JV Kavaliers squad visits Southampton Academy on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
