Krista Hall’s third-grade class at Victoria Elementary School recently hatched chicks, butterflies and frogs this spring as part of their life cycles unit in science.

According to a press release, the students were amazed at how quickly the caterpillars grew in size and waited in anticipation for the metamorphosis into the butterfly. “The frogs also developed quickly allowing some excited as some tried to escape their habitat. The students were able to candle the chicken eggs using a flashlight at day seven and again at day 14 to observe the chick growth inside the egg.”

The class had a 21-day development model to follow along with the progress of their eggs.
