Flying colors for a playground

Central High School hosted a Color Run on Friday to raise funds for what will be the first all-inclusive playground in the Central Virginia region.
Participants of the Color Run event, which started at 5 p.m., took part in the untimed run sporting only white clothing, according to school officials.
During the run, volunteers on the sidelines threw colored powder on the participants, completely dousing them with bright colors by the end of the run.
Participants also got to throw powder on each other, said Cassie Duarte, an art and computer graphics instructor at the high school.
The event was sponsored by the county’s Ruri-Teen Club.
Proceeds from the run will be donated to the Kids=Play initiative, started by Park View High School’s Future Business Leaders of America chapter in Sterling that plans to bring an all-inclusive and handicap-accessible playground to the region.
The event’s registration fee was $7.
Duarte estimates that about 30 people participated in the run and had a ball playing around with the powder.
