On June 11, Tyler Williams, a 2017 Central High School graduate, met Violet Johnson Harris for the first time at the West Hill Baptist Church in Victoria.  Harris, who resides in Washington, D.C., was visiting the church after attending her 50th class reunion of Central High and Lunenburg High. Central High, a consolidated school, opened its doors in the fall of 1966 after the closing of Kenbridge and Victoria High Schools. Harris attended Central during her senior year under Lunenburg County’s Freedom of School Choice option. She was the first and only African American to receive a diploma from Central High School on June 10, 1967.
