The Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) approved a new job description for its vacant executive director position during its most recent meeting.

The approval of the job description begins the process of advertising for the executive director position left vacant by former CRC Executive Director Mary Hickman in May.

The council’s vote indicated the job application process will remain open until the next meeting, scheduled for Sept. 7.

The CRC appointed Regional Planner Melody Foster as interim executive director during its May 17 meeting. In June, Foster announced she’d seek the permanent spot once it was advertised.

CRC Vice Chairman and Buckingham County representative Morgan Dunnavant said he liked Foster’s “style,” speaking of how she goes about performing the job.

“But we also need to find out what else is out there that somebody can bring to our organization too,” Dunnavant said during the June meeting.

The job description cites that the director, in consulting and collaboration with the CRC, shall dedicate him or herself to originating, identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to form, facilitate and enhance local and regional partnerships.

“The executive director leads through innovation, strategic planning and excellent customer services,” the job description reads.
