Bessie Sue Harper

Bessie Sue Harper was born on Sept. 4, 1930 in Mecklenburg County. At the tender age of 87, and with loving family by her side, she peacefully and quietly slipped away to be with God on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. At a young age she married Ernest Lee Harper and to this Holy union ten children were born. Bessie enjoyed spending time with family, listening to Gospel music and feeding any and everyone who visited. She loved being spoiled by the grandkids and would heartily share interesting stories about her and their granddaddy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Harper; one son, Thomas Lee; one grandson, Andre; parents, Walter and Rosa Rhone; two sisters, Louise and Dorothy; two brothers, Richard, Sr. and Archer. She leaves to cherish her precious memories nine children: Melvin Harper (Barbara) of Victoria VA; Rosa Harper of Norman, Oklahoma; Barbara Booker of Kenbridge, VA; Linda Harper of Henrico, VA; Sandra Harper of Richmond, VA; Earl Harper (Juanita) of Victoria, VA; Valerie Seward of Kenbridge, VA; Gregory Harper (Judy) of Highland Springs, VA; Patricia Garland of Kenbridge, VA; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Cannon of Richmond, VA and Frances Bugg of South Hill, VA; two brothers, Charles Rhone of Richmond, VA and David Rhone of South Hill, VA; two sisters-in-law, Bishop Elizabeth Bagley and Ruth Patterson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. at Cornerstone of Deliverance Church, 3416 Blackstone Road, Kenbridge, Virginia. Pastor James Shelton, Eulogist. Interment will be held in the Falls Road Cemetery, Kenbridge, VA.
