The second annual Lunenburg’s Got Talent is set to come in the spring. Last year’s show brought an array of talented young performers. Their performances, in addition to the supportive audience and judges, created an event to remember.

Lunenburg isn’t a stranger to displays of talent. Whether that comes from the Southside Area Community Theater’s recent production of Doublewide Texas or Central High School’s upcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” it makes for a good evening to support one’s kids, friends or relatives who may be taking part in these productions.

Students in particular have faced a lot this year in the county. In addition to the anxieties related to schoolwork, changing grades, future plans and relationships, the division has mourned the unexpected death of George Sunbury.

This may be an opportunity to not only allow students to express themselves, receive affirmation and hone their crafts, but the event could also offer a community gathering where people can share experiences and be inspired to pursue their own talents.

Putting those shows together takes work, and Event Director Pat Israel is asking people to help.

Those interested in volunteering would get emails about the planning process and potentially be tasked with certain assignments. “We would love to have any and all volunteers,” Israel said in a recent Dispatch report.
