Vance Havner once said, “Simply wait upon Him. So doing, we shall be directed, supplied, protected, corrected and rewarded.” We want all those things don’t we. They give us a feeling of confidence, safety and security. Often times we choose to find them from those in the world around us. I wonder if those in whom we value their opinions know what direction we are suppose to go, or know what to offer us that we need the most, or from what to keep us safe, or where we really mess up, and when we should really be given a pat on the back? I would say there are very few people in the world that know us well enough to properly answer all those questions. The writer of the Book of Lamentations pens it this way, “It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” It is good indeed, but quietly is difficult. None of us like to wait… Amazon Prime…do I need to say more? But God works in His time, not ours. And his efforts are more complete than ours, and his timing more perfect than our desires. At any point in our lives, each of us is “going through something.” And boy is it hard to wait for it all to work out. Be patient, allow God to be good, strengthen your relationship with Him, and take Joy in knowing that eventually “this too will pass.” Simply wait on the Lord of your life!
