James Clyde Tanner

James Clyde Tanner, 81, of Kenbridge, Va. passed peacefully at home with family by his side on April 3, 2018. He was one of nine children born to the late David and Pauline Blanton Tanner; he was husband of the late, Maxine Thackston Tanner and father of the late David Michael Tanner. He is survived by a son and daughters- in-law; James C. Tanner, Jr. and wife Julie Kelley Tanner of St. Augustine, Fla. and Brenda Townsend Tanner of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Kimberly Tanner and Jonathan Tanner, both of Greenville, S.C and James Silas Tanner of St. Augustine, Fla; two brothers, Waverly and Robert and one sister, Mary “Goodie” Young.

After retiring as a US Navy Aviation Machinist Mate 1st Class, James worked at Fort Pickett specializing in hydraulics. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves and spending time with friends and family.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, Va. Interment in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery with military honors.
