Lois Isabell Gee Browne

Lois Isabell Gee Browne was born in Lunenburg County, Virginia on November 13, 1938 to Harlis and Marion Hopson Gee.

Lois received her education in Lunenburg County Public Schools and graduated from Lunenburg High School in Victoria, Virginia with the Class of 1957. Upon graduation, she moved to White Plains, NY and was employed by White Plains Hospital in the Food Services Division. She later worked for the Burke Foundation as a physical therapy aid. After several years, she returned to Lunenburg County to care for her parents. She worked at Scoville Manufacturing in Victoria, Virginia from 1975 – 1986. Lois began working for Reiss Manufacturing in Blackstone, Virginia in 1989. She enjoyed her many years of service at Reiss, where her coworkers kept her youthful and full of laughter. After 28 years of service, she retired in February 2017.

One of her greatest joys was to help others, including friends and families. She enjoyed assisting her cousin Gladys Minger with catering events. Lois had a passion for making floral arrangements and decorating many venues for various occasions. Lois also, loved to shop and enjoyed finding good yards sales as well as hosting them.

Lois, a lifetime member of Bethany Baptist Church, served as a Deaconess and Chairman of the Trustee Board until her health began to fail.

Lois entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2018 at her home in Victoria, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents Harlis and Marion Gee and brother Willie Nathaniel Gee.

She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Sean L. Browne and his children with Sunny; Alexis, Cyanne and Justin; two sisters: Juanita G. Baine of Victoria, Virginia and Mary Annette Jones (Archer Lee) of East Orange, NJ; one brother: Harlis E. Gee, Jr. of Victoria, Virginia; faithful and treasured friends: Eugene Edmonds, Estelle McCrimmon, Mark Barnes and Alonzo (AJ) Johnson; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Bethany Baptist Church, Kenbridge, Virginia with the Rev. Carlton Clark, Jr., pastor. Interment was in the church cemetery. S.P. Jones and Son Funeral Home served the family.
