Lunenburg’s Got Talent, a talent competition for students between first and 12th grade which began last year, will take place Sunday.

The show, beginning at 2 p.m., will take place at Central High School.

Students, who will be placed in three categories: elementary school, middle school and high school, can compete to win prizes at $500 each.

The event is organized by the Lunenburg County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Benchmark Community Bank.

Pat Israel, who is heading the event, said that there are four performances in the high school category, one performance in the middle school category and three performances in the elementary school category.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing them out onstage,” Israel said.

She said performances will range from dance to instrumental work from a wide range of music genres.

Israel noted that judges will include Helen Person, vice president/director of marketing at Benchmark Community Bank and Joanne Stugart with Turning Point Healing Center in Lunenburg.

Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce President Mel Payne will be master of ceremonies during the event.

Israel said funds will go to the chamber, which will then be distributed into community events and recognizing area businesses and students.

“It really is good family entertainment,” Israel said about the event. “It really inspires and supports these students who are pretty brave actually, to get up there and perform.”
