A severe weather warning, including a tornado watch, is in effect for Lunenburg County, the National Weather Service (NWS) advised.

The warning cited 60 miles per hour wind gusts and to expect damage to trees and powerlines.
“A tornado watch remains in effect until midnight EDT for central Virginia,” the NWS cited.

Cumberland County has issued an emergency alert for the thunderstorm warning, asking residents to stay aware of heavy rains and winds until midnight.
