‘A heart at peace gives life to the body.’

The relationship between the spirit and the body is deeper than we might think. Not all physical infirmity is a product of spiritual turmoil, but much of it is. When God is on the edges of our lives, our bodies can’t stand the distance. Ask anyone with heart trouble. Stress is often a big part of it. And stress is the result of a too-distant relationship with God.

Have you ever driven down the road listening to your favorite song on the local radio station; just to hear static began to intrude upon the “stereo” signal?

That happens because we are getting too far away from the ability of the radio waves to most effectively reach us. Everyone else who is close enough is still hearing that same song clearly. It is just us that has gotten too far away. That happens in our relationship with God in Christ Jesus. When we become distracted by the world and driven in directions that may not be God’s will for our lives … we start to experience interruptions in the presence, power, and peacefulness that comes from God. God is still there, it is us that chooses the distance over the divine. Where are you in proximity to the Prince of Peace? Reset, reboot, return to the center and experience a heart at peace.
