Spring clean up week in Victoria
Published 12:38 pm Wednesday, April 18, 2018
The week of April 22 has been designated as spring clean up week in the Town of Victoria. Residents are encouraged to take this time to spruce up their yards. This may include trimming shrubbery and trees, cutting grass, cleaning up overgrown areas, or removing dilapidated buildings on your property. In the most recent county property reassessment, property values in the Town of Victoria decreased over $98,000. Much of this can be attributed to the state of some of the properties in the town limits.
To aid in this town wide cleanup, the Town of Victoria will provide free services to pick up limbs and yard debris. This does not include construction debris, furniture, appliances or other household items. Limbs and yard debris may be placed in the same area as normal garbage pickup. Unacceptable items will not be picked up and will be the resident’s responsibility to arrange for disposal.
If you have materials that are not acceptable for the free pick up you may contact the town office at (434) 696-2343 to discuss the fees involved with town forces picking up and disposing of these items for you.
Saturday, has been designated as a town wide cleanup day. Citizens and civic groups interested in helping clean up the town are asked to meet at the flagpoles in Railroad Park at 9:30 a.m. Some areas already identified include all entrances into town, the Tobacco Heritage Trail, the downtown area and several streets throughout town.
