Each June, more than 1,800 young people from around the U.S. head to Washington, D.C. as part of the NRECA Youth Tour. Helen Strigel of Central High School has been accepted to this year’s program.

Participants learn about the role that electric cooperatives play in a free enterprise system, especially as it relates to providing electric energy. Additionally, students are exposed to issues that affect Southside and other electric cooperatives at the federal, state and local levels.
