Arrowhead Gun Club hosted its second annual Youth Day Saturday. Youth, as well as adults, were able to try out skeet, trap, archery, black powder, .22 rifle and BB. Arrowhead’s goal was to give families a chance to try shooting sports in a safe and fun environment. At the culmination of the event, Officer Mike Landry provided a demonstration with his drug dog, Sadie. He talked to them about her training and the kids were allowed to come up and get to know her. Conservation Officer Blanks, from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, was also present to talk about his role in our community. Dylan Robinson from the Lunenburg Extension Office provided the archery station as well as setting up an information booth about the available 4-H Clubs. Door prizes were given and a one-year membership to the club was awarded to one lucky adult. Arrowhead was able to host this event for relatively no cost because of many generous sponsors. Lunch was provided by the Freeland 4-H Shooting Team as a fundraiser for their organization.
