Families and friends enjoyed steak, baked potatoes, string beans and dessert at the annual Bobby King Memorial Gift steak dinner Friday evening at Victoria Fire & Rescue. Participants could eat in or have orders for takeout.

King, Victoria Fire & Rescue Chief Rodney Newton said, was a Life Member and paramedic with the department, in addition to being an officer with Colonial Heights Fire and EMS. “Bobby was killed in a motor vehicle collision in May of 2011,” Newton said. “We have been having the dinners to provide funding for a gift to a graduating senior from Central High School that is pursuing a career in Fire/EMS or nursing since 2012.” Pictured are Grayson Townsend, left, Thomas Thompson and Jeramiah Fix during the Bobby King Memorial Gift steak dinner Friday.
