A building on Court Street in Victoria that had reportedly been a former Tastee Freez is set to soon see cold confections return. This ice cream parlor will be operated by Linda and Timmy Clark, who also own Timmy’s Grocery next door.

Timmy’s Scoops will hold a grand opening July 20 at 10 a.m.

“We’re excited about it,” Timmy Clark said in a phone interview. He said Linda is setting up the location.

The store is expected to have 24 hand-dipped Hershey’s ice cream flavors and an array of toppings and loose candies, such as sprinkles and caramel, to choose from. “It’s going to be retro,”

Clark said about the store interior, which he said will be modeled after ice cream parlors in the 1950s. He said there will also be outdoor seating. “We’re painting, fixing it right now.” Clark said Timmy’s Grocery has been in the area for 35 years. “I’ve had the idea for five or six years,” Clark said about the ice cream shop, but had not gotten around to establishing it until now. “I just decided to do it.” He said the community’s response to the store has been one of excitement. “Everybody we’ve talked to has said it’s a lovely idea,” Clark said. Clark said the building adjacent to Timmy’s Grocery, where Timmy’s Scoops will be located, had been a Tastee Freez back in the 1960s.

“I think it’s going to be great,” Clark said about the store.
