Avoy Scales Glover

Avoy Scales Glover, 95, of Kenbridge, Va. joined her family in Heaven on July 1, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Glover; two sons, William Russell Glover, Jr. and Stephen Loper Glover; her parents, Nathaniel Lee Scales and Ada Belle Wood Scales; siblings, Doris E. Shelor and Roy Scales and foster sibling, Alfred P. Brammer.

She is survived by a son, Gordon H. Glover (Liza) and a daughter, Daphne D. Glover; daughters- in-law, Andrea Mitman and Diane Glover; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Avoy graduated from Virginia Tech. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid Hokie Football fan and gardner. Avoy was an amazing lady with a great sense of humor, who, as a widow, raised four college graduates while serving as director of Lunenburg County Social Services. She was a member of the Kenbridge Baptist Church where the family received friends on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 10 a.m. until start of services at 11 a.m. with Dr. Charles Smith officiating. Interment in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery.
