Denver Riggleman, 5th congressional district candidate, visited Lunenburg County July 10, where he met with county representatives, visited Mildred’s Meals, the Town of Victoria and the county courthouse.

A release from Lunenburg Republicans Chair Mike Hankins cited that Riggleman met with community members at Mildred’s Meals, Kenbridge Town Hall, Victoria Town Hall, Lunenburg Court House and several area businesses. Riggleman was nominated by the 5th Congressional District after Rep. Tom Garrett announced he would withdraw his candidacy May 28.

“Denver served our nation in the Air Force as an intelligence officer,” Hankins cited in the release. Riggleman reportedly planned some of the first bombing raids in Afghanistan following 9/11 attacks.

“Today he continues to serve and protect our nation as a consultant at the Pentagon,” Hankins said. “He is the CEO of two companies so he know what it takes to fight government red tape and run a successful business.”

During the event, Hankins said Riggleman spoke with area residents and suggested potential ways to bring additional business to the county. “Denver understand Virginia values,” Hankins said. “He was born in Virginia, went to the University of Virginia, and lives in Nelson County with his wife were they raised three adult daughters,” Hankins said.

“I have known Denver and his wife for about 3 years,” Hankins said. “I consider Denver a personal friend. He is someone who know business.”

Hankins noted that Riggleman co-owns and operates Silverback Distillery with his wife and family, located in Nelson County.

“They have created many jobs in his community and he knows what it takes to bring jobs to an area,” Hankins said.
