The Delta Alpha Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recently installed officers for the 2018-2020 biennium. The organization is an honorary society for key women educators, most of whom live/work(ed) in Lunenburg, Brunswick, Mecklenburg or Nottoway counties. The Delta Alpha Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recently installed its officers who will assume their positions on July 1, and serve two-year terms. They were installed by Anne Hamlett of Victoria, a charter member of the chapter who has not only been chapter president in the past, but also has held positions at the coordinating council level and state level. The red and gold colors of Delta Kappa Gamma are in evidence at every special ceremony of this type. Other Society symbols that are utilized during the installation are the Society’s shield, the three tall red candles, and the official flower, the red rose. The red drape with the Greek letters for Delta Kappa Gamma is also on display. The Society was founded in May 1929 at the University of Texas. The Society promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
