Goodness

For something in our culture today to be worthwhile it must be described as amazing, outstanding, remarkable or awesome. So what does it mean that God describes Himself and His creation as good. God doesn’t need superlatives or flowery, over the top language. Good for God is more than good enough. Out of God’s goodness, we are transformed. God blesses so that we will bless others. God loves us so we will love others. God forgives us so we will forgive others. As a follower of God’s son, we should not have to strain to be fruitful in goodness. Goodness just happens, because God’s goodness has happened in our lives. God’s goodness has made us a new creation in Christ, our minds have been made anew. We see more clearly through God’s eyes, and our desires are replaced with a passion for God’s desires.
Most people today try and impress others with a remarkable personality, amazing skills and outstanding achievements. God’s spirit in us, doesn’t care about the “flashy,” it’s all about being faithful and fruitful. When God sees that, He thinks it is pretty good, and I think that is awesome!
