The Central High School varsity golf team entered its rematch Tuesday with Randolph- Henry High School fresh off a 4-0 week.

The Chargers (7-1) were set to host the Statesmen and Goochland High School at Lunenburg Country Club in Kenbridge.

In its most recent match before then, Central defeated Bluestone High School and Cumberland County High School on Thursday at the Farmville Municipal Golf Course. The Chargers produced a team score of 173, well ahead of the Barons’ 226 and the Dukes’ 228.

“They did well,” Central Head Coach Richard McDaniel said of his golfers. “I was actually down a player because one of mine was sick, so overall it could have even been better possibly, because I was missing one of my top four.”

Senior Joseph Mc- Daniel was dehydrated and had a stomach virus, but he recovered and was expected to play Tuesday.

Leading the way for Central on Thursday was sophomore Hogan Whitlow with a 38. He joined the team this year after transferring from Kenston Forest School.

“He’s definitely a good addition to the team,” Coach McDaniel said Tuesday. “Not to take anything away from any of them, but he will definitely be a good addition, especially when it comes to competing with Randolph-Henry and Goochland today and as we get into the postseason.”

Rounding out the Chargers’ team score was Cole Williams, who shot a 40, Thomas McDaniel, who shot a 42, and Mason Elliott, who shot a 53.

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, Central recorded a team score of 168 while hosting Buckingham County High School, which produced a 212, and Cumberland, which generated a 235.

Tying for the Chargers’ lowest individual score were Whitlow and Williams, who each shot a 40. Joseph Mc- Daniel registered a 42, and Thomas McDaniel shot a 46.
