Are you ready for some football? Tucked inside today’s edition of The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch you will find a copy of our football preview for the 2018 season. The special section offers preview information on all of the varsity high school and college teams that we cover at Farmville Newsmedia, LLC.

Those teams in our coverage areas include Central Lunenburg High School, Kenston Forest School, Buckingham County High School, Cumberland County High School, Fuqua School, Prince Edward County High School, Randolph-Henry High School and Hampden- Sydney College.

Of course, the teams of greatest interest here in Lunenburg are Central and Kenston Forest. When it comes to the Chargers, thanks to the impact of Head Coach Will Thomas and his staff along with the talent found in the Central student body and the powerful tradition of Charger Pride, we can always expect excitement on the gridiron from the boys in purple and gold.

In the special preview section, Thomas helps give readers an extended glimpse of the 2018 Chargers, and in a separate story at the front of the section, he also helps highlight an unsung hero on the team.

When I went to Kenston Forest to learn about the 2018 Kavaliers, I received an unexpected education on something I had never heard of before: eight-man football. The Kenston Forest football program will be taking the talents of its 14 varsity players and applying them to an eight-man football league. Check out the preview story on the Kavs for Head Coach Tom Inge’s insight into the transition, and also find out who he cited as his team’s unsung hero.

While the other teams featured in the section are not local to Lunenburg, many of them will be opponents the Chargers will line up against this season, so reading up on them will help you know what Central will be up against.

Each preview story is also accompanied by a team photo with names, and a schedule with dates, times and an indicator on what games are home and away.
