A Kenbridge man was recently sentenced for two counts of felony distribution of marijuana, a release from the Lunenburg Commonwealth’s Attorney cited.

Joshua Edward Settle, 19, was sentenced in Lunenburg Circuit Court to 10 years in prison with all suspended except one year and five months.

According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, the local drug task force under the direction of Deputy Chris Wallace of the Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office and Special Agent Jason Lacks “conducted undercover purchases of marijuana from Settle on Jan. 10, 2018 and Nov. 15, 2017 in the Town of Kenbridge on Sixth Avenue. The purchases were for $275 each for about one ounce of marijuana per buy.”

Clement said a third misdemeanor sale of marijuana was ruled nol prossed by the Commonwealth, meaning that the incident was dismissed. “The suspended portion of his sentence will be subject to conditions of good behavior for 10 years, supervised probation for one year, warrantless searches, substance abuse counseling, and restitution of $825.00,” the release cited. Clement said the sentence was within the sentencing guidelines range.

The release cited Settle was allowed a delayed reporting to the jail until Sept. 11 and authorized to participate in the work release program if eligible and if approved by the jail.
