Residents in Kenbridge will soon see a new face on patrol for the Kenbridge Police Department.
Nathan Vaughan, 29, graduated from the Police Academy in Lynchburg with the Department of Justice on December 18. A long-time member of the community, Vaughan is now a certified patrol officer with the Kenbridge Police Department.
Vaughan was hired in June of last year by the town. He has since been training and working toward his certification. Graduating from the academy was step one. Step two involves working with a field training officer and shadowing other officers in the department, said Kenbridge Town Manager Tony Matthews. He added that area residents will see Vaughan on patrol in the coming weeks.
In adding Vaughan to his department, Chief of Police Chris Wallace now has three full-time patrol officers, in addition to the patrol sergeant and two part-time officers.
“The Town of Kenbridge and the Kenbridge Police Department are excited to have Nathan on our staff and look forward to working with him as he grows in his position as Patrol Officer,” Matthews told the Dispatch.
The KPD also posted an announcement on social media about their newest officer’s certification, saying “Congratulations to our newest patrol officer Nathan Vaughan who graduated (from) the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy.”
