Bridge projects continue to move forward in Lunenburg, according to Virginia Department of Transportation official Bill Smith.

Following the completion of the Victoria Bridge, Smith says that work at Wallace’s Bridge is set to be finished this spring. He stated, “Things are moving along on that project with the completion date still set for April 2016.”

Smith also offered an update on the Lee’s Mill Bridge project that residents in that area of the county are anticipating. He noted that the project will be sent out for bid next month.“If bids come in at a respectable figure, we hope to be starting that project around January 2016,” Smith said.

A heavy concentration on bridge work has been the focus of VDOT officials in the past year, but some other road projects are also nearing completion in the area. Smith said that the Old Plank Road project was added to the six-year secondary road plan for Lunenburg and it is expected to be completed in coming weeks. This project was a rural rustic upgrade to that location.
