This was Victoria’s 35th Annual Autumn Days event, but the first time the celebration included a truck/tractor pull that may have pleasantly surprised organizers by drawing over 500 people.

“We were really pleased with the turnout we had,” said Rodney Newton, a spokesman for the event.

Organizers will decide by Nov. 1st if they will have another pull next year, Newton said.

The truck pull drew a number of participants from across Southside and at least one truck from Elizabeth City, NC, he said. There was also a tractor pull.

In a pull, the goal essentially is to see which vehicle can pull weights the furthest.

“We really didn’t know what to expect, but we were pleased with the crowd and the support,” Newton said.
