The Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce made a trip to Kenbridge last week to present Mildred’s Meals with a certificate for being selected as the Business of the Month.
Mildred’s is a well-known restaurant in Lunenburg County that has been around for over 70 years. Before being renamed, Mildred’s was started as Mrs. Allen’s Restaurant and was owned by Lena Allen.
Thirty years ago Mildred W. Carter purchased the business and changed the name.
Richard W. Harris then purchased the restaurant in December of last year, and kept the business functioning under the same name.
Currently, Mildred’s employs 15 local residents and the workers seem to love every minute of their job.
“I adore this place. It has been here so long and it has been such a blessing to have Mr. Harris here,” said Mildred’s Manager Susan Hite.
“It has just been amazing. He is an awesome boss to work for and I enjoy being here.”
Mildred’s Meals is open Monday-Thursday from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner Southern cuisine style.
