Eight arrested on drug and firearm violations

Eight people are facing numerous drug and firearm charges following indictments over the past two weeks. The indictments were served by the Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force and the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office, according to a Monday release from the Sheriff’s Office.

With the indictments, eight individuals have been arrested.

According to the release, indicted were: Sidney Pernell, for manufacturing marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm with more than a pound of marijuana; Mitchell Alan Shelton, for distribution of marijuana; Lewis Norman Cochran, for distribution of marijuana; Rondreyvous V. Smith, for distribution of Schedule I or II narcotic; Justin Holliday, from distribution of marijuana; Brandon Thomas Farnsworth, for possession of Schedule II narcotics and possession of ammunition by a felon; Kaemkia Davis Farnsworth, for possession of Schedule II narcotics and possession of ammunition by a felon; and James Smith, for possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.

The task force is compromised of narcotics investigators from the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police.

Townsend also warned Lunenburg citizens to be aware of the dangers of drug abuse in the county.
